Beauty retouching, real life example Anna
This is another real life retouching example video where I've documented the retouching procedure that's behind one of the images that I posted on the blog in this post.
We wanted to achieve a very natural look with the makeup and the retouching and lighting was meant to reflect that look. I would say the "natural look" is one of the most difficult looks to master because you can't hide behind cool color effects, like cross processing or monotone effects. And of course any mistake in the lighting or the makeup will require a lot of time to correct.
Hopefully the video will be of some use or inspiration to some of you and I might upload a longer and slower paced version on my facebook fan page but I don't think I will get around to do that within the nearest couple of days. Read the full post

A few more images with Marco

Yesterday I finnished the retouching of the last final selects from the shoot with Marco last week. Thought I'd share them as well. As this shoot was very spontaneous I didn't really document the process, but if you are curios hit me in the comments and I will try and answer any questions.

Current music video favorite
I love how this video reflects the mood of the song. The song is apparently all the rave down south in Europe, but it's first now that it's starting to reach us cold Swedes. I'm convinced this is going to be a major summer hit in Sweden, especially on the club scenes, and I must say I wouldn't mind that at all. I give you: Stromae - Alors on Dance

Three images from yesterdays fashion shoot

Model: Marco Brian agency: MAJOR Milan
Because of (thanks to) the giant volcano ash cloud Marco was stranded here in Sweden. He contacted me asking if I would help him get the time to pass by doing a spontaneous photo shoot. I thought why not, cleared my schedule and spawned some ideas for a nice outdoor "spring in stockholm style"-project. Of course the day after, when we were going to shoot, the weather had turned and it was actually snowing again (yes that's Sweden for you).
Anyway we improvised a few looks in the studio instead and I'm totally happy with the results. Here are three of the images showing the very different styles we ended up doing, more to come later stay tuned.

A photographers life, from Robert Benson
I don't usually reblog stuff, but this was so strikingly correct that I just had to. I found it via A Photo Editor and you can click the image or here to get to Robert Bensons blog.

My fashion portfolio as of april 2010
One advice I've received many times from photographers and photo-business people who are more established than I am is that the portfolio has to be great (obviously) and it has to be updated with fresh material continuously. A dramatic way of saying it is that once you stop producing new material you begin to die (in the business at least). This advice holds true in photography in general but in fashion photography especially. But it's important to remember that everything that's new shouldn't automatically end up in the portfolio. Every image needs to earn it's place on those expensive printed pages and for you who missed it I talk about selecting images for your portfolio here.
To give you readers an insight in my struggle for photographic successes (enough to at least pay my rent and put food on the table) I give you my current printed portfolio, last time I published it was in february and you can catch it here if you wan't to compare and see what's new.
P.S. These scrolling tables might look weird for you using RSS readers so you might want to visit the main blog site.

Emmie as Julia in "Jakten på Julia"

English translation below (this is kind of a swedish thing).

In English: Dancer and musical artist Emmie Eriksson Asplund is one of the finalists in the swedish national television talent competition "Jakten På Julia" (" the search for Julia") which airs saturdays 20:00.
She's not only been a subject infront of my camera a few times before, we actually used to hang out when we were small kids. So this is a call to action for all readers with a chance to vote. vote for her. Read the full post

I've been buried in some computer related problems the last few days, nothing has crashed and I've not lost any files or such. I'm just working on an update/upgrade on my video editing system and workflow... If everything works out I will back on my regular track by tonight and you can probably expect to see more and better videos from now on...
Cheers

Here are a two great ones. First up is a totally British as well as totally wicked vid from Tom Werber, Loosers flush
The second one really made an impression on me (it's very claustrophobic). I have not yet figured it's message out but that's not necessary to qualify to my list of favorites. I give you Liars "Scissor" by Andy Bruntel
